For more than forty years, Jacksonville has welcomed jazz legends to the First Coast starting with trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie at the first event. Since then, Miles Davis, Tony Bennett, Kenny G, Herbie Hancock and Trombone Shorty have entertained thousands of guests in the downtown core with smooth beats and imaginative solos. The city’s largest, free music festival showcases three days of live music on two stages. The lineup always juxtaposes the genre’s past stars with its present. Some of the 2023 performers include Wynton Marsalis, Samara Joy, Shemekia Copeland, the U.S. Army Ambassadors Jazztet, Marcus Miller, Larry Carlton and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
